Commandments Concerning Kings - What Kings Should Do
Deut 17.14-20
- 1. He shall write him a copy of this law in a book
- a. Jer 31.33 - will put my law in their inward parts ... write it in their hearts
- b. Psm 119.11 - thy word have I hid in my heart
- c. 2 Cor 4.7 - we have this treasure in earthen vessels
- 2. He shall read therein all the days of his life
- a. 1 Tim 4.13 - give attendance to reading
- b. Deut 6.6-9 - these words ... shall be in thine heart
- c. Eph 3.4 - when ye read ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery
- 3. Keep all the words of this law
- a. Jas 2.10-12 - whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend in one point
- b. Deut 6.24-25 - the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes
- c. Deut 12.32 - thou shalt not add thereto nor diminish from it
- 4. His heart be not lifted up above his brethren
- a. Prov 16.5 - every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord
- b. Jas 4.6 - God resisteth the proud
- c. 1 Pet 5.5 - God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble
- d. Psm 51.17 - the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit
